National and International Representation: IITD is the representative body from Ireland on the European Training and Development Federation, and the International Federation of Training and Development Organisations.

The International Federation of Training and Development Organisations (IFTDO) is the world-wide federation of professional bodies of trainers and human resource development specialists. Founded in Switzerland in 1971, it exists to develop and maintain a world-wide network committed to identifying, developing and transferring knowledge, skills and technology to enhance human performance, productivity and sustainable development.

As well as professional bodies representing various countries’ interests, membership also includes universities, educational institutes, training organisations, consultancies and individual practitioners.   IITD is the representative organisation for the training and HRD industry in Ireland on the IFTDO board.

IFTDO's 38th World Conference and Exposition

October 20th-23rd 2009, Toronto, Canada
The International Federation of Training and Development Organisation (IFTDO) are holding the 38th World Conference in Totonto from October 20th-23rd 2009 in Toronto on the theme ‘People, Knowledge, Performance’. An exhibition is also planned to run alongside the World Conference.

ETDF
The European Training and Development Federation is a pan-european network of professional training and development Institutes. It exists to provide a forum for training and developmental issues in Europe.

ETDF’s main activities are undertaking research and producing a regular newsletter, which provides updates on training and developmental issues across Europe. The ETDF website provides and opportunity for human resource development professionals across Europe to network and to learn about research findings. The ETDF’s website is www.etdf-fefd.eu.
